A monolithic zirconia crown is a dental crown made entirely of zirconium.
From an aesthetic point of view, a monolithic zirconia crown is clearly superior in quality and appearance than a metal-ceramic crown. It is ideal for small teeth or for areas where the bite gap is less than 3mm. A monolithic zirconia crown is much lighter than a metal-ceramic-based crown, so the patient’s adaptation to this type of cover will be much faster.
The estimated lifespan of zirconia crowns reaches 20-25 years. The placement of crowns is carried out in several stages. First, an impression of the jaw is made on the basis of which a dental crown is designed. Subsequently, the dentist performs the adjustment and fixation. On average, 3-4 sessions with the dentist may be needed.
Zirconia crowns have a higher price compared to other types but, to a large extent, it all depends on the material and the complexity of its elaboration, so it is better to consult the final cost with out dental-specialists.
