Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis

Chronic periodontitis is a serious disease that requires competent treatment and care. Let’s briefly look at how it is conducted. The dentist performs diagnostics, including a visual examination, measuring the depth of periodontal pockets, X-rays, and other tests to assess the degree of damage. First, teeth cleaning is done to remove plaque. This helps to reduce bacteria and inflammation itself. If necessary, the doctor may prescribe medication to control inflammation and infection (antiseptic solutions and antibiotics). In some cases, especially in more serious tissue damage, surgical intervention may be required – treatment of periodontal pockets, regeneration of bone tissue, or correction of gums.
