Ceramic dental crowns
Nowadays, ceramic dental crowns have become one of the most aesthetic types of orthopaedic structures. They can be placed both in the frontal area of the teeth (the smile area), as well as in the area of the teeth in charge of the patient’s chewing functions.
Ceramic dental crowns are made from a material that does not contain harmful substances, does not absorb external odours, does not absorb dyes or bacteria. Ceramic crowns also do not emit harmful substances for the patient and are extremely durable.

Porcelain dental crowns offer the same advantages as veneers, but we can see a certain differences between them. Veneers only cover the frontal area of the tooth, while the crown replaces the entire outer area of the tooth up to the gum.
Porcelain is used in crowns, which becomes slightly thicker than in veneers and is fused with a metal alloy so that the crown can become more solid and secure. Since the ceramic crown covers the entire tooth, more teeth need to be sanded prior to placement of it.
Zirconia dental crowns
Zirconium (zirconium dioxide) is a metal oxide similar to ceramic, but with different properties. Therefore, we should emphasize that it is mainly characterized by offering much greater resistance than other types of materials.
It is an oxide that was discovered relatively recently and has been used for the last 10 years with excellent results.
