Treatment of gum disease
The gums, also called gingiva, are one of the most important parts of the oral cavity. It covers the maxillary and mandibular bones and at the same time surrounds and supports the teeth. In its healthy state, the gums are hard and have a nice pink colour, but when it suffers from various ailments, it turns a reddish-violet colour and is much more sensitive than usual. Swollen gums require immediate treatment; late visits to dental specialists can lead to tooth loss. The causes of gum diseases that require treatment can be: a poor oral hygiene, smoking, the type of food eaten by patients or vitamin deficiencies.
In the gum treatment process, the doctor will first diagnose some of the diseases of the mucous membrane in the patient: gingivitis, periodontosis or periodontitis.
