Veneers
Veneers are a fixed orthopaedic construction, designed to hide different types of cosmetic defects and serve to significantly improve the teeth aesthetic appearance. Veneers are a thin sheet (about 0.5 to 0.7 mm thick) that covers the frontal area of the tooth. By simulating the tooth surface, veneers act as a kind of veneering material that reliably conceals and masks existing cosmetic problems of the patient.
Contraindications for veneer placement:
Our dental clinic, ID Dent, perform a placement procedure of veneers to those patients who really need it for the solution of their case. Therefore, first of all, we recommend going for a consultation with the dentist. Our dental specialist will decide if veneers are an ideal solution for you or if there is another method that can help you in your specific case.
Some situations in which it is not possible to carry out the placement of dental veneers:
- Tooth weakness (abfraction) or teeth in poor condition (presence of cavities).
- Insufficient amount of tooth enamel.
- In case of direct occlusion.
- In the event that you have gum disease.
Types of dental veneers.
Depending on the manufacturing material, dental veneers can be made of:
- ceramics.
- composite.
- porcelain.
The estimated lifespan of a dental veneer will depend exclusively on the correct and adequate care of the oral cavity and compliance with all the recommendations given by the dentist to the patient. Otherwise, stains, darkening, cracks and fractures may appear on the surface of the sheets and, therefore, periodic touch-ups should be carried out.
Placement of dental veneers
The placement of dental veneers is divided into the following steps:
- Preparation of the oral cavity of the patient by the dental specialist. Professional cleaning is required. Also, cavities and pulpitis are treated (in case of suffering from these).
- Dental polishing is carried out to obtain an ideal thickness on which to work. This procedure prevents the teeth from increasing in size after micro-prosthesis fixation and allows to ensure a perfect fit of the orthopaedic structures.
- The dentist takes impressions and sends them to the laboratory.
- After 5-7 days (after taking the impressions), the veneers will be ready and the dental specialist will fix them in the patient’s mouth using a special compound.
Veneers can be placed only on the frontal area of the teeth, as the orthopaedic framework cannot withstand the chewing load.
What is the cost of the veneers?
The cost of dental veneers depends on the material and the manufacturing technology that are used. Not all patients can afford the placement of such veneers, as the price is usually quite high, but if your desire is to have a beautiful smile, just like Hollywood stars, then the investment is worth it.
