Treating necrotizing gingivitis (gangrenous gingivitis) is quite a complex task as it is a serious inflammatory gum disease characterized by necrosis (tissue death) and usually linked to infection.
The most important step is to quickly consult a dentist for an accurate diagnosis. The dentist will perform an examination and possibly additional tests to assess the degree of damage and determine the causes. To stop the spread of infection, the dentist will remove necrotic gums and other affected tissues. After removing necrotic tissues, antiseptic procedures are performed to cleanse the area of bacteria and promote healing.
Treatment of necrotizing gingivitis requires professional medical attention and sometimes surgical intervention. It is important to start treatment as early as possible to prevent further complications and preserve gum and dental health.
