Self-ligating braces are an orthodontic appliance that serve to align the dentition and the bite that, unlike ligatures (conventional braces), do not use special elastic rings (ligatures) to connect the archwire with the appliances. In this case, the orthodontic archwire is fixed using special locks, which allows the archwire to slide freely and, at the same time, does not require great pressure to move the teeth.

Characteristics and differences between self-ligating appliances and traditional appliances
Both the self-ligating braces system and the ligature system perfectly cope with their main task: effectively correct crooked teeth and incorrect bite, but in the same process of use there are slight differences between them:
- When you are choosing orthodontic appliances, aesthetics plays one of the main roles, self-ligating appliances have an advantage in this matter, since the brackets in them are a little smaller than in the designs with ligatures, and the absence of elements additional support makes the smile more visually appealing.
