Open sinus lifting is a more complex procedure. It consists of the following stages:

1. Careful incision of the mucosal tissue and exposure of the bone.
2. Creating a side window to access the maxillary sinus.
3. Detachment of the maxillary membrane and lifting it.
4. Filling with bone material and closing the side window.
5. Mucosal suturing.

After the open sinus lifting procedure, implant installation can only be done once the full bone tissue has formed. This typically takes 4 to 6 months.

Materials Used for Sinus Lifting

During a sinus lift procedure, the dentist may use the following materials:

• The patient’s own bone. A small piece is taken from the lower jaw, chin, or hip area. Integration – 100%. However, the downside is that the patient undergoes two simultaneous operations.
• Artificial materials, developed in laboratory conditions for a specific person. They have a high probability of integration. The advantage – there is no need for two surgical operations.
• Donor bone. Natural donor bone integrates fairly well. Additionally, you don’t need to undergo 2 surgical interventions.

Rehabilitation Period After Osteoplasty
